The birds are chirping, the sun is shining, and the weather is warming up. There will be no more snowflakes for a few months, which means spring is finally here. As we prepare for spring, I will share some fresh DIY Spring home decor ideas to make your home feel fresh and inviting.
Spring is a time of renewal and energy, so it’s the perfect time to update your space with simple springtime decorations that can have a big impact. Yes, these are ideas we have tested and found true, tips, but I’ve updated them so that all these ideas and items I’ll show you will not only feel fresh and new but reflect what you’ll find in the stores.
I will be sharing 10 simple ways to bring spring decor into your home. Most of these items are super affordable, and many of them you may already have in your home, so let’s go ahead.
1. Artwork is cool
Bring in Spring artwork. There are so many different ways to make it super affordable and budget-friendly. You can thrift to find your picture frames. I do this when I need cute frames that I can place in any of my rooms, especially in the bathroom.
Currently, I have three favorite Etsy shops that I frequent for artwork, you can browse through them for a particular artwork that’ll fit into your room.
It’s a great way to get beautiful artwork at such a small price, you only spend three to five dollars on a picture, and then you can send it off to Walgreens and have it printed for a couple of dollars.
There are many beautiful shops out there which is such a wide variety of artwork for all seasons, during the springtime, you can get a picture of nature for example, a picture of a beautiful Field of Flowers maybe a garden or maybe fruit, or even Citrus prints for the kitchen, you can get them from an Etsy shop, Hobby Lobby or from Amazon.
2. Straw Hats
I can never fail to add straw hats to the list of DIY Spring home decor ideas, cause I’m a lover not because they are so affordable but because they make the room look cute. If you don’t have them already, you can get some for like 15 to 20 dollars at the market and they are pretty, available everywhere at this time of the year.
You can add them to a little hook at the entryway or place them at the edge of your table to serve as a simple vignette or tablescape, placing a hat at the edge adds a touch of spring to your room, and just makes a nice little welcoming scene.
3. Greenery and Florals
This list wouldn’t be complete without adding greenery and florals cause all they do is scream spring, having greenery and florals in your room brings out that spring look.
You can start by placing a basket of flowers, such as hydrangeas, and a market tote with some cute, dried eucalyptus. This serves your home for a year, you can add more later during the spring and summer seasons though as you see fit. If you’ve got some greens in your yard or flowers, you can bring them in.
It’s all about treating yourself to the fresh feeling of nature, even though it’s not every time, once a week can do the trick. There are places to get florals like Trader Joe’s, this is not sponsored, just giving you somewhere to shop.
4. Switch your bedding
This section has some categories, I will go ahead and group them into one because they are all related. One of the signs that springtime is upon us is the change we experience in our homes.
Instead of keeping your room stuff, why don’t you make it a bit lighter, we know it’s better to have a stuffy room (with those heavy duvets) in winter than in summer, so the aim is for a lighter room.
Rather than having a heavy duvet in your room, try replacing it with a lightweight quilt, this is what I apply to my room during spring, it not only helps you physically but also gives the season aesthetically to your room. As a suggestion you can try the wintry type of theme, darker colors, or use some greens and florals as I have mentioned above, plus some taupe colors.
In addition to the lighter bed setup, you can buy some spring-inspired pillowcases or bedsheets via Target, you can search depending on what you prefer.
5. Swap out your coffee table
If you want to experience that full seasonal feeling, you might want to make some changes to how your coffee table is placed, you can switch the items on it to something cozy.
You can get a book that is about seasonal change, and put a small pot of plants on it, that’ll complete its look because it’s something that’ll catch the attention of your guests.
6. Rain boots are a game changer
For numbers six and seven out of the top ten DIY Spring home decor ideas, I will be mentioning some items you already have that can make your room look spring.
If you have a pair of rain boots, you can use them to decor your room, say you have a mud room or a little entryway, it doesn’t have to be anything large but just somewhere that you can set out your little rain boots on a bench or a little stool or even just on the floor alongside a little tree or a plant, there’s a lot of different ways you can style them.
This idea depends on where you live and what climate you’re in, let’s take Carolinas for example, they have a pretty rainy April, and that’s the moment to put out those rain boots so it is easy to access and ready for use.
7. Use what you have for decor
Making use of something you already have is a little unique to decorate with, I know this because I’ve been doing it for a long time and I love it.
To be honest, I feel like it’s a great way to add some decor to your walls without having to go out and spend any extra money so bring your pretty spring and summer clothes out and put them on display.
Start with hanging them up on a little hook in your bedroom, office, living room, or even in a little corner by a chair. It’s such a beautiful way to add just a little touch of spring, possibly elegance or a pop of color to your walls.
8. Baskets and bags
Having a simple market bag or a tote hung up on a hook with some flowers in it is cute, your visitors will have something to peek at. You can get a linen bag as well as some dried eucalyptus stems that you can just pop right in there, you’ll just love how effortless and simple it looks, plus it adds a little bit of beauty.
For your office, you can try getting a seagrass toad with some other stems in there and if you wanted to instead of having a wreath on your front door you could still use your wreath hook.
You could hang a tote bag in that area and put some faux florals because it probably wouldn’t be good to have real florals in there, obviously not faux florals or dried in there on display on your front door, and then go with that would be baskets.
You can get a nice floral basket to use as a centerpiece, you could set it on the ground next to a cute little chair and just have some florals sitting in there and it’s just such a great way to bring spring inside.
9. Bring in your gardening accessories
Displaying your gardening tools like watering cans and setting them throughout your house is another way to experience spring in your home.
There are a lot of different ways you can display them, you can create little vignettes, or you can also hang a lot of them, tools like a little hand travel hung on hooks or little gardening scissors. These are great tools for hanging in your kitchen and you can use them if you do get fresh flowers in your yard (if you have one) as well as use them to trim your flowers.
You can hang them on hooks throughout your house you can use them as part of centerpieces and I think it’s just such a beautiful way to add some decor to your home for the spring.
10. Bring the aroma of spring to your home
You can bring the aroma of spring to your home in many different ways, one is by having seasonal candles, I love the fresh linen and cotton in the springtime it reminds me of just the windows being open and fresh, lavender lemon floral, and fruity scents can be brought into your home through candles diffusers.
You can use soaps that you have swap those out and make sure you have something seasonally relevant; you can use some good-smelling hand soap in your bathroom.
