For someone who loves the cozy style, the boho interior design style is something you have to consider, if you notice my posts on this blog, I like to go through different interior design styles and do a whole breakdown of the design style.

I have compiled some ideas on how you can create a boho bedroom set, we’ll start by talking about what the style means and how you can incorporate it into your home.

Creating a Boho Bedroom Set

I’ll explain the benefits of the different interior design styles and who should use them and who shouldn’t.

What is this boho style?

The boho style is defined by being unconventional. With this style, you don’t follow the rules. We might compare it to a nomadic life where you travel anywhere you want, pick up a little luggage, and go around the world. You are not bound to a place. It is a very personal and eclectic design style.

What are the benefits of the Boho design style?

The first one is that the boho style is very colorful, over the years people have been unhappy that most of the interior designs have been in favor of neutral color lovers, for example, most of the kitchens you see online and offline are colored in gray or white, boho style is in support of people who loves to see color, all those energetic pop of color are accepted in the boho design style, all you have to do is follow the principles.

The second benefit is that boho is super eclectic and a fun style. You don’t have to go hard. It is a casual and homey style, very comfortable, and you can never say the word “boring” with the boho design style. It’s an interesting style, and if you are the fun type of person, you’ll find this style impressive.

The third benefit of boho is that it’s a very personal style. I have mentioned this before, but I think it’s important to know that boho, when done right, reflects the personality of the person who lives there. I think that’s kind of great because sometimes a lot of design styles can feel a little bit manufactured, and the boho style does not.

Is the Boho style for you?

If you’re looking for sophisticated, clean, contemporary spaces, you probably won’t like boho. If you’re also a minimalist, you won’t love boho either because this style is about gathering things from your travels. It has a cohesive look, but if you admire clean, open, minimal spaces, boho might look cluttered.

Since you are a lover of the boho style which is centered around warmth, and coolness, you’ll find having a Tuscan-themed kitchen more fun and interesting, it’s a great recommendation to try out.

How do you achieve the boho color palette?

Let’s get into some tips on how you can achieve boho in your own home.

1. Define your color palette

Boho color palette

This design style loves color. It works well with color. It’s a way to bring random colors together and break some of the conventional rules, and it still looks cohesive because it has this unifying boho look.

It gives you the freedom to be as colorful as you want to be, if you want to go for a sort of classic boho, you can go for something with big rich jewel tones. You can use emerald, ruby, lots of gold, teal, purple, you can use all those rich beautiful colors by default they’re really sort of brought together.

In this boho style, you don’t have to necessarily use these big rich beautiful colors that are kind of the classic boho that we all think of, you can also use muted tones, and pastels you can go neutral using white and cream space. You can also go for the masculine look with the black and white boho.

2. Play with pattern

Boho is a friend of pattern, you can use southwestern you can use Moroccan, you can use tribal for like a tribal rug or something you can use all kinds of cool patterns that you wouldn’t necessarily think would work together but layering all those patterns together is going to give you that signature boho.

Stick with the color palette that we talked about in tip number one but layering in different palettes so that can be rugs, pillows, throws, or art that you use. You can get creative in terms of how you want to layer in the pattern but the best thing I want you to take away is that in boho busy is normal. Boho is about pulling all these things together so layering pattern on pattern can work well in a boho style.

3. Add Personal Items

Personal Item

One sure way to spot a boho bedroom set is when you see lots of personal items in a room. I have mentioned that this design style is about pulling in those treasured possessions that you have accumulated over the years bringing them into your space and showing them off.

This is done to make your space feel personal sometimes if I see a boho space that just looks manufactured I think it can look cool but it doesn’t necessarily have the same impact on me as when you see people say “Hey you know this is where I went to Africa and I picked up this beautiful poof” It doesn’t matter if you haven’t traveled to Africa, you can incorporate personal items that you’ve accumulated over the years.

4. Add a Gallery Wall

A gallery wall is a great way to add that personality but also get creative with things like the frames that you use or use some macrame on your wall or different kinds of art pieces preferably something that you have found in your travels but if not, something that you’ve purchased that you really like.

The rules of boho are quite loose so if you wanted to use a bright gold frame that has lots of detail and then couple that with a very simple basic black frame that can work in a boho style, you’re not trying to get everything to be consistent because it’s eclectic by design.

You can bring different art pieces or frames from different places together, all you need to note is that you should stick to that color palette that was discussed earlier, for a cohesive look, you can repeat some of the colors used in the patterns.

5. Layer in rugs

Layer rug

Rugs are important in boho because texture and pattern are important in boho so one tip that I have for you is that if you can’t afford or don’t want to do one big rug because the bigger rugs tend to be expensive, a great tip is to layer a few different rugs I recommend that they’re probably a similar thickness because you don’t necessarily want to have it all wonky on your floors.

I think having multiple rugs and layering them in a cool pattern can create a little bit of dimension into your space and it just looks fun and comfortable and a little bit different. You can’t always get away with this in other design styles but in boho, it just feels comfortable and texture is important just to kind of warm up the space and make it feel cozy.

6. Layer in Texture

Once again we are talking about the rugs, yes, but we’re also talking about lots of different other decor pieces or the furniture that you’re using in the space, this can be cotton, wool, leather, or crochet. If you’ve got a crochet blanket that your grandma gave you, throw that in there if it’s warm and comfortable because that’s what boho is all about. You want to keep it casual and just comfortable, a great way to do that is to layer in different textures on top of each other.

7. Make use of Plants

Plants

Boho style uses a lot of plants because remember we’re trying to recreate or emulate that nomadic lifestyle where you’re you’re always on adventures and bringing in that outdoors into the space brings that life and that kind of casual warm vibe that you want in your boho space.

8. Use Wicker and Rattan

Wicker and Rattan bed

We talked a little bit about texture before and how important it is to bring in texture but also in boho there’s also a 70s coolness that you’re getting from a boho vibe and I think that rattan and wicker is a great way of bringing back that 70s feel.

It’s not just light, it’s warm and it has this organic feel to it so the other reason I like wicker and rattan besides its warmth is that wicker and rattan can create some beautiful patterns. Boho is a little bit wild and crazy and tends to favor big patterns and tends to like lots of curvature and a lot of detail in its work.

9. Mix in Vintage

Vintage items

This is a design style that favors found pieces that you have collected, if you’ve been gifted something by say a relative or you’ve picked up something at a flea market or an estate sale this can work well in boho because you can go as ornate or as simple as you want in some of these styles.

You can bring in like a vintage wall clock that you’ve maybe found at a flea market that would work well in boho because it’s found so it’s personal to you because there’s a little bit of a story there and you can say how you found this wonderful clock and you can sort of mix it in and you can go as clean and simple as you want.

Where can I shop for Boho?

Where can I buy boho items

Let’s go over some of the best places to shop for boho, my first pick isn’t a shop at all and that is for you to work with pieces that you already have. I’m gonna bet that a lot of you have inherited some beautiful quality pieces that you were given or gifted by somebody or maybe you inherited it, using these pieces and working them into your space is like a classic boho look because it’s personal, it means something to you and it’s a nice beautiful found item.

Just as I have mentioned, this is a style that is defined by being eclectic so if you’ve got different pieces that you’re like I’m not sure this is going to work together in a boho style. You can make use of the tips that we’ve discussed to make it work out well. if you do it kind of in using the tips that I have already discussed you can work it into the design that you’ve created.

What about DIY?

Boho bedroom DIY

There is a second option and that is doing things yourself, I am not a DIYer so I can’t give top-tier advice but you might be if you’re handy and you are the type of person that loves to take like an old bar cabinet and you want to bust out your chalk paint and you want to make it your own, you can do that. This is the style that is going to work for you because even if it’s a little rough around the edges it’s gonna work in this style because there’s a story, and it’s personal and a casual space.

Best Retailers for Boho Decor

To create a boho bedroom set, you must find the items needed first. Finding stylish boho decor doesn’t always require traveling the world—sometimes, the perfect piece is just a click away. Here are some great retailers where you can shop for boho-style home decor.

  1. Etsy
If you’re not into DIY projects, Etsy is a great place to find handcrafted decor made by skilled artisans. Items are often unique, reasonably priced, and full of character. You’ll find everything from rattan wall hangings to custom-made furniture.
  2. Anthropologie
Anthropologie is known for its eclectic, colorful designs that fit perfectly with a boho aesthetic. Their Vallarta ceramic planters are a great example—if you can’t pick one up in Puerto Vallarta, you can always order it from their store.
  3. Article.com
Article.com offers high-quality furniture at reasonable prices, with many boho-friendly pieces like rattan and wicker chairs. Their Daisy Chair is a standout option for a chic, laid-back look.
  4. IKEA
IKEA is a great option for affordable boho decor that looks more expensive than it is. Many of their natural-textured pieces, such as rattan furniture, can easily fit into a boho-inspired space.
  5. Ruggable
For stylish, machine-washable rugs, Ruggable is a top choice. They offer a variety of boho patterns that make layering rugs effortless and practical. Instead of dealing with the hassle of professional rug cleaning, you can simply toss these in the wash.

Conclusion

Creating a boho bedroom set should be as easy as ABC if you can decide what you want after reading the above ideas, you don’t have to be strict with yourself, let the inner thought of you work it out and then you sit back to enjoy the design.
